The new Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEM) is pleased to announce its first annual membership drive, and is seeking girls in grades K-12 to join and be part of all the fun Girl Scouting has to offer. Communities throughout eastern Massachusetts will celebrate their Girl Scout pride this September with new member registration events, green ribbons on the doors of Girl Scouts’ homes, and a proclamation from Governor Patrick declaring Sept. 27 as Girl Scout Day in Massachusetts. Saturday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plimoth Plantation, 137 Warren Ave., Plymouth, current Girl Scouts and girls that signup for Girl Scouting, as well as their family members, will receive half price admission to Plimoth Plantation. plymouth youth baseball and softball registration
Tryouts for baseball players ages 8-12 will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, at Haskell Field (Nook Road). Players age 10 will try out at 9 a.m., players ages 11, and 12 will try out at 11a.m., players age 9 will try out at 1 p.m. and players age 8 will try out at 3 p.m. Players ages 8-10 and those not on a major league team must try out.
Tryouts for softball players ages 8-16 will take place Sunday, Sept. 21, at Forges Field. Players ages 8-9 will try out at 9 a.m., players ages 10-12 will try out at noon and players ages 13-16 will try out at 2 p.m. Players ages 8-10 and 13 and anyone new to the program must try out.

free fingerprinting
A missing child is a parent’s worst nightmare. Yet it happens all the time. As parents, you can take all the precautions possible, but in the event it should happen to your child, you need to be able to provide the authorities with as much information as possible. That’s something most parents aren’t prepared for and why Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac is hosting a fingerprinting event Saturday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Representatives from Executive Protection International will conduct this free event in Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s showroom at 137 Samoset St. Children’s fingerprints will be taken using a non-toxic fingerprint strip. Parents will receive those extra large prints on a high quality stock paper, which includes space to attach an updated photo, an area for contact info and medical information and a special section for notes.

Signups for the 2008-2009 season will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at South Plymouth Elementary School and Thursday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at South Plymouth Elementary School. First grade through eighth grade only. This is on a first come, first served basis. There are only 80 spots available at each level. fourth annual spba basketball camp
The fourth annual SPBA basketball camp for third through eighth grade sign-ups will be Sept. 24 and 25 at South Elementary from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Camp will consist of high-level conditioning, basketball fundamentals and competitive scrimmages. Camp will be divided into two divisions: grades 3, 4 and 5; and grades 6, 7 and 8. There will be a 25-player limit for each group.
